"Horizon" by VRUM is the next release on the Leipzig based label Boundless Beatz. You can get two versions of the track, which differ so much from each other and yet support each other so much - because the release comes with a Wintermute remix.

But first things first: the original of the young producer and DJ steps unexpectedly close to the listening person. Wide surfaces and a certain positive isolation are approached by the intro. The acoustic image is suddenly centered with the first drum hit and it seems as if from here on you have been personally invited to dive into your own depths to watch whales. Suddenly the stillness of the water disappears and with the first drop the sea turns into space - or what I imagined as space and the future when I was a kid in front of a 16-bit console. Lights pass by, time warps, and protected in the titanium hull of my ship, I gently dodge everything - flying low, rising high, spinning and rolling.

What is the meaning of all this? Well, the track is simply written for the feeling, and not for the drop of the millenium.

By that I have to mention that this version would be playing on my headphones if I were on my way home after a night of clubbing - the sun showing its first rays and I'm taking a deep breath, trying to capture that rare moment...with good memories and a lively heart and the pride of not settling for anything less in life than the feeling of truly being alive.

Wintermute's remix provides the counterbalance to this. Concise sounds, dense mixing - it would be the track I would have enjoyed in the club before listening to VRUM's version on the way home. So overall everything seems healthy mirrored, without one of the versions losing any core message or value. All in all, a balanced release that does not have to hide.
